Advantages over Onshore OWC
Because of offshore design, this Offshore Oscillating Water Column Energy Converter captures higher magnitude of waves and extracts optimal energy of ocean waves. Wave power at deep sea ocean sites has 6-8 times more the wave power than coastal sites (onshore OWC).
It is reported that wave power devices can generate up to 90 % of the time, compared to 20-30 % for onshore OWC, which is three times of onshore OWC. Further onshore oscillating water column depends on tides and hence the optimal functioning takes place on those relative periods of the tides.
Our completely submerged design gives more stability to floating platform and hence it increases efficiency of heaving devices in converting waves to mechanical energy.
Our invented amplification mechanism amplifies the incident wave height to its nearby double and gives multiplier effect on the power production rate.
Our invented design takes care of non-linear waves by regulation of irregularity in wave amplitude and gives production of constant output.
In our design 70% use of Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester (FRP) or similar non-corrosive material and 30% of protective coating applied marine grade metal alloys reduces production cost and increases life to 30-40 years of our devices, leads lower maintenance cost.
